The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s Counter-Terrorism Task Force operates to secure the region’s people and its economic, trade, investment, and financial systems from terrorist attack. Established in May 2003, the Counter-Terrorism Task Force monitors progress and builds capacity in counterterrorism. It coordinates the implementation of Leaders’ Statements and commitments to fight terrorism and enhance security. The Task Force assists members to identify and assess counterterrorism needs, coordinates capacity building and technical assistance programs, cooperates with relevant international and regional organizations, and facilitates cooperation between APEC forums on counterterrorism issues.

APEC members include Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taipei, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam.
