Lauren Newby is a second-year J.D. student at Harvard Law School and has been a Research Assistant for the HLS Program on International Law and Armed Conflict (HLS PILAC) since September 2023. Lauren’s current research at PILAC focuses on the global counter-terrorism system.
Lauren is a member of the Board of Student Advisors and an editor on the Harvard National Security Journal. During the summer of 2023, Lauren interned at the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice for Victims of Overseas Terrorism. It is anticipated that she will be working in the national security division at WilmerHale during summer 2024. Lauren graduated from Stanford University in 2017 with a B.A. in Political Science and an honors in International Security Studies. She received her M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of Public and International Affairs in 2022.
