On April 1, 2019, Germany — upon assuming the presidency of the U.N. Security Council for the month of April — convened a Briefing on the Promotion and Strengthening of the Rule of Law in the Maintenance of International Peace and Security: International Humanitarian Law. Prof. Modirzadeh was invited — alongside Mr. Mark Lowcock, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, and Mr. Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross — to brief the Council.
