Summary

As the world’s largest police organization, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) expends a portion of its resources on supporting member countries’ counterterrorism efforts. INTERPOL’s counterterrorism efforts include information collection and analysis, provision of data and expert support to their member countries and other international organizations, and circulation of alert and warning notices related to potential terrorist threats. INTERPOL’s Fusion Task Force (FTF) has been at the front of the organization’s counterterrorism efforts since 2002. FTF is made up of officers from over 160 countries and is responsible for investigating suspected terrorist organizations and attacks and analyzing the information they gather in order to support their member countries and increase members’ own counterterrorism capacities.
