At the Harvard Law School Program on International Law and Armed Conflict (HLS PILAC), we study contemporary challenges concerning armed conflict through the lens of international law. We are seeking a research assistant to support our work at the intersection of international law, armed conflict, and artificial intelligence. The principal task will be to provide rigorously researched, regular updates (~7-10 hours per week) to HLS PILAC faculty and staff on developments related to reliance on AI in connection with armed conflict. The research assistant will be remunerated at the HLS hourly RA rate.
Eligibility
Only current HLS 2Ls, 3Ls, LL.M. candidates, and S.J.D. candidates — as well as visiting upper-level students — are eligible to apply. Candidates with a technical or operational background are especially encouraged to apply. Having already taken public international law or international humanitarian law will be considered an asset.

Eligible students may submit an application by sending a cover letter setting out their interest in the position and relevant background, along with a résumé or c.v., to pilac@law.harvard.edu by September 27th at 5 PM. We aim to notify the selected applicant by October 3rd. As in previous years, we anticipate receiving more applications than there are available positions. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
