(Amb.) Allan Rock, Visiting Scholar, HLS, Spring 2017

Allan Rock was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School during the Spring Term, 2017. His professional experience includes twenty years as a trial lawyer in Toronto. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Rock also spent ten years as a member of the Canadian federal cabinet under Prime Minister Jean Chrètien, including four as Attorney General of Canada. He subsequently served as Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations, where he led the successful Canadian effort in New York to secure the unanimous adoption by member states at the 2005 Global Summit of The Responsibility to Protect populations from mass atrocities. Mr. Rock recently completed eight years as President of the University of Ottawa, one of Canada's leading research universities.
