Ryen Bani-Hashemi is a third-year J.D. student at Harvard Law School and a research assistant for the HLS Program on International Law and Armed Conflict. At the program, he has worked on research projects related to the proportionality criterion in self-defense, working methods of the UN Security Council, and urban siege operations. Ryen is also a clinical student with the International Human Rights Clinic, and he has participated in the HLS Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program.

Ryen grew up in the SF Bay Area and received his B.A. in History from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ryen is now an HLS PILAC alum.
