Fatima Mehmood, HLS PILAC Research Assistant as of Fall 2019

Fatima Mehmood is an LL.M. student at Harvard Law School and a Research Assistant with HLS PILAC as of Fall 2019. At HLS PILAC, she contributes independent research to the “Council of Advisers on the Application of the Rome Statute to Cyberwarfare,” an initiative of the Missions of Liechtenstein, Spain, Belgium, and Estonia to the United Nations.

Fatima completed her law degree in Lahore, Pakistan in 2018. Subsequently, she worked at the Asma Jahangir Legal Aid Cell where she focused on public interest litigation and women-friendly legislative reform. She was the Lead Researcher on a paralegal training and advocacy program during this time. Fatima also worked at Mahmood Law Chambers in Lahore, Pakistan focusing on criminal litigation. During the academic year 2018–19, Fatima served as an Adjunct Faculty Member for Jurisprudence and Legal Theory at University College Lahore. During her law degree, Fatima was the Assistant Editor of her university’s Human Rights Journal in collaboration with the American Bar Association and was also actively involved with the mooting society, serving as its President in her final year of law school.

At HLS, she is focusing her LL.M. on international law and human rights.
